Eastman Escape
Redesigning this weekend home near Eastman for empty-nester clients meant striking a delicate balance between refreshing existing features, establishing intriguing new focal points, and still allowing the home’s stunning Eastern Townships views to shine.
To make the spaces warm and liveable, Romina introduced textural elements, from beautifully grained wood furniture and nubby rugs to a new microcement treatment on the chimney breast. She amplified the contemporary style with pieces like the blue Danish-modern console in the entryway—a witty contrast to the antique paintings by Arthur Dominique Rozaire above—and the dining room’s linen-panelled pendant, inspired by the owners’ many sailing trips.
Judiciously added colour was drawn from the surrounding landscape. The bedroom features tranquil sky-blue bedding and grasscloth wallpaper, while the green kitchen evokes a shady forest. Upstairs, in the airy loft family room, a palette of earthy browns and greys feels cosy and inviting.
